Bringing down [sub]PIXEL

According to my Administration Panel I set-up [sub]PIXEL.ca in November of 2002. I can now say that 4.5 years later it's time to take it down. I was going to wait until I had made a book out of the images/copy/comments, but as I went through that process I realized I just wasn't that interested anymore. A lot of the images are just bad (to be honest) , out of focus or otherwise examples of an immaturity I'd rather leave behind.

I still have the site backed-up, so nothing is really lost. It was however, time to stop paying to keep the site up. Both financially and artistically it didn't make sense to keep it up any longer, the traffic just didn't justify it. I'm much happier with the current bostich.com homepage being the repository of my work. True I lose the ability to comment on my photography the way I could on [sub]PIXEL a slideshow is not a photoblog.

So, R.I.P. [sub]PIXEL.ca

You Tube

Wow it's been way too long since my last post. The good news is I've accumulated some really good stuff to share. If you aren't familiar with it; You Tube is kind of the flickr for video. People post anything and everything, and this in small doses is a good thing. :) Over the last few months these videos have crossed my path and what can I say, they're hilarious - you must check them out. None of the content was made by me - click on the video once it's playing to be taken to You Tube where you can find out more.

Okay so it's taken quite a fair bit just to get these links up, I'll replace them with nice pictures later :)

If the video doesn't appear relatively quickly you may have to close and try again, or try another.

First let's start with some Trailer redux:

Shining (a Romantic Comedy)
Sleepless in Seattle (a Thriller)
Titanic (a Horror)
West Side Story (a Horror - 28 days later)

Now on to some excellent SNL:

SNL Chronicles of Narnia
SNL Harry Potter

How could I forget two young Chinese boys with a dream:

Chinese Backstreet Boys - That Way
Chinese Backstreet Boys - Special

Last but not least, Mariba Ponies speak for themselves:

Marimba Ponies

Get Firefox 1.5

Get Firefox!

Just in case the title doesn't say it all Get Firefox!

GO..

Get it right now!

From my webstats I know that most people who come to bostich.com still use Internet Explorer (Boo!) If you have not discovered the joy that is Firefox then I urge you to make the switch. I'm not going to go in depth about the features because Mozilla already has pages that do that. If you don't trust me then trust other people. So go, look download and start playing around with it. Don't forget to also go checkout some of the amazing Firefox Extensions. People who love the Internet love Firefox. Enjoy.

Just the FAQ

I had a nice long [ okay maybe too long ] discussion with one of our content strategists over one of my big pet peeves: When people use the term "FAQs" when they really means "FAQ". Over the course of a very short period of time I managed to gather a lot of information to support my view:

Answer.com and Dictionary.com

Some Google results:
FAQ 423,000,000
FAQs 191,000,000

It all basically boils down to the this: In FAQ the object is the page (or list) of questions, not the questions themselves. FAQs is the plural of FAQ.

Good examples of sites that use the term correctly:

GameFAQs.com and Faqs.org

So unless you have multiple FAQ pages, or you are on the FAQ and referring to the questions on the page "the FAQs below", it's FAQ.
