The first time I learned to dive in Tamarindo, Costa Rica I had a blast. I think that was one of the best experiences to my life at that point. I'm not sure why it took me 4 years to get back in to the water... other priorities I guess, but I know it won't be 4 more years now. There really isn't anything I can compare diving too. It really is a completely marvelous and different world under the surface.
Having not gone diving for a while, and travelling with my Sister, I decided I'd also sign-up for a learn to dive course. The seemingly obvious choice from an internet search perspective was Pro Dive Cairns. The price was right and they seemed to have pretty good boats, plus their schedule worked well with what I thought ours would be. This turned out to be the right choice. I really can't say enough good things about our experiences with Pro Dive. Our great instructor Annelyse, had tonnes of experience and a really good teaching style. Both a lot of patience and a wicked sense of humour got everyone through the land and sea sections of the course.

The accomodation I arranged in St.Kilda was waaay far away from the beach though some not so super-nice looking areas. Schlepping our 2 suitcases that far (even rolling) was not looking appealing. Luckily we managed to switch to something closer. Still, St.Kilda was not so suiting to my sister's very non-bohemian tastes, plus it was very out of the way for doing any touring. We decided to move in to the city for our last two nights. We were getting up at 6:30 and 5:45 respectively, and that was with a good location.
