Well here I am from my laptop. My good old computer dead on the floor again. The last time this happened I just reformatted and moved on, after having to shill out for a program to recover all my lost photography etc.. This time patience won out, although I have ordered a new HD that should arrive in a few days.
Still no idea what is wrong but it seems this crash, so called because when booting into safe mode the computer will always hang at the APG440.sys loading line, is just a red herring for any number of problems both hardware and software. The totally annoyng thing about it is absolutely anything could be wrong. The only way to tell is to swap out each part at a time and try the system that way, this includes the Motherboard and Powersupply. If the new Hard Drive doesn't work out I could try to beg/borrow a few parts from friends to see if swapping them in fixes the problem. There won't be any other purchases save a whole new machine (one that comes with tech support and a payment plan).
I really hope it doesn't come to that, and at this point I might just live without a desktop for a while. Except for a few games and a lot of Harddrive space my Work laptop does everything I need it to.
same problem (desktop sitting on a chair... on the labtop) i feel for you!

I'm having his same problem with my Dell Inspiron 8200, I have always left it alone and 2 or 3 months down the line the inevitable Blue death screen stating IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR _EQUAL, appears and windows will not load. So, I then dish out money to best buy geek squad, (this is like the 4th time within 2 years) who basically just reinstall everything. They even one time replaced the hard drive, boom 2 months down the line...the problem causes my computer to crash again..I dont know what to do. Safe mode wont load, and causes the blue error message, and I thought it was a windows problem, but they've reformatted my hardrive several times and the problem remains. I even bought a chill mat, because some suggested it might be overheating....Ive updated everthing. Tried removing certain hardware, software. Nothing..Safe mode with command prom.. hangs up on apg440.sys and the blue screen appears...
