Day 21 - San Jose

If you didn't know any better you'd think I never left San Jose. Just got in from Manuel Antonio, rush hour in this city is crazy.

M.A. was nice, a very nice hotel, probably the best I've stayed in yet. It was great to hook-up with Ingrid and Thomas again, it made the time really fly by. I didn't really do that much, went for a walk on some of the trails around the park. There is a lot of up and down, combined with the heat it equaled a lot of sweating, I drank about 1.6 litres of water. Then is was some time in the surf, it's neat how you (I) can float in the ocean without expending any energy.

Day 18 - San Jose

Wow.. 18 days, that's like a lot of days. Anyway I've made my plans for the rest of the trip now, and as usual I feel much better having a direction to go in. Whenever I'm in one of those transitional stages I get all homesick and wondering what I'm doing, but once I make a decision I go with it.

So I'm going to Manuel Antionio, staying at the Hotel Costa Verde (without one of the nice ocean views) where Ingrid & Thomas should be right now. I'll be there for two nights and then back to San Jose for my last night before heading home.

That's all for today, I just slept in and walked around the city taking some pictures. A down day. Picked up a copy of Jurassic Park to read on the beach. I found a used English bookstore that had a dozen or so copies. I guess a lot of people come down here reading that book.

Day17- San Jose

There was no Internet access in Tortuguero, so here I am back at hotel Don Carlos for probably 2 nights. I'm thinking of going down to Manuel Antonio Park mid-week, but that depends on how I feel. Otherwise I'll stay in San Jose and do day tours out places. Either way I'll see some things and miss other things. I already know I'm not doing any canopy tours, I haven't heard of any really good experiences yet.

It was an interesting ride to Tortuguero, up over the central mountain range and down into the caribbean lowlands. It gets very flat very fast, and it was mostly cattle pastures and banana plantations all the way. We had to go a more northerly route because of flooding on the more southern roads. When we arrived, we took an open boat for 1:30hrs through some minor canals and rivers ( we even saw a crocodile) before arriving at Laguna Lodge. It was very nice, if basic. When they say lodge, they mean lodge.
