Day 6 - Tamarindo

A little more burnt, I'm still in Tamarindo. I will be until Tuesday when I think I'm heading for Fortuna for a few days near Volcan Arenal, and a TV :)

It's scorchingly hot here during the day. I spent an hour in the sun reading and got pretty burnt, and since I was in a pool it's just from the chest up. Once my Scuba course is over I'll have to try to even out the tan a bit.

My legs are also a mess of mosquito bites from my first evenings dinner on the beach. Big mistake there, I hadn't heard any mosquitoes so I assumed they didn't exist. Anyway my legs are all itchy, but keeping them in water most of the day helps, and now I know better. [EDIT: They were noseums not mosquito's]

The Scuba course is going well two days in. It's both in the class and in a pool, a very nice pool I must admit too. Having a bit of trouble keeping neutrally buoyant; a combination of my breathing too hard and not in the diaphragm. Anyway I'm looking forward to Saturday and Sunday out in the Catalina Islands doing the open water part of the course. The visibility won't be as good as some places in the Caribbean, but what can you do.

Since I have neither TV nor Radio, I'm reading the books I brought along with me. Next time though I will at least bring a radio with me, silence sucks.

There are lots of animals here; there are tonnes of little lizards, like albino anoles or something (someone told me what they are but I forget) on the walls and ceilings at night. I've also seen a few Iguana, one at lunch today not 4ft away having a snack off some bush.

I probably won't post again until Sunday after my course is over, although I'll probably be online for a while tomorrow. Oh, and one thing you notice with much slower Internet access is it becomes very hard to multi-task. After trying all three of the local Internet Cafes the third one has both A) Air-conditioning, and B) English keyboards. Both of which make using the Internet and updating the blog Much. Nothing worse then a keyboard that doesn't work quite right and in a different language.
