Day 14 - San Jose

I hate when computers go wonky and mess up entries.

So the day started out badly, I was waiting for the bus to San Jose which never came. Finally I got the girl at the desk to confirm I was set to get on the 1:30 bus. This wasn't ideal however as I want to go to Tortuguero and now I'm thinking I have to spend Saturday in San Jose. So I go back and watch 4 hours of old TV(90210, Wings) while stewing over how much I want to leave Fortuna. First the Cano Negro bus incident, then the cleaning staff pinches my good Towel (Sorry Mom! White+Towel+Hotel=Bad!) and I never did manage to get it back, then this.

Well the 1:30 bus shows up at 1:40 and my heart finally calms down. Plus for a change this bus is full of people! A very nice conversation takes us all the way into San Jose, and it was probably the best bus ride I've had, although the Cano Negro thing worked out well also. So I come to Hotel Don Carlos without a reservation, and it's late in the day. They have a room for tonight but not tomorrow (Uh Oh), but while I'm waiting I flip through the tours book at the reception desk and the clerk says he can arrange any tour in there. 10 minutes later I have a reservation to go to Tortuguero tomorrow at 6:40. The weather forecast calls for rain, but the satellite image looks okay, it is always raining in Tortuguero apparently, something like 4-6000mm annually.

So now I have what I want for right now, and I'm on the move. Now I just hope when I get back I can get a room and find a tour down to Manuel Antonio. Otherwise I'll just find some other tours to round out my stay, a pacific island cruise and some rain forest or something, maybe Monteverde.

Oh, I saw this amazing waterfall yesterday! It was a 10k walk there and back, up about 45deg half the way. And! I saw a paintball field!
