Day 12 - La Fortuna

Hrm.. I swear I made an entry yesterday, but there isn't one. Must be confusing my written journal with this, or I logged out without saving.

Today was interesting. I had (I thought) a reservation to go up to Cato Negro with Arenal Adventures (Bus #1). I was sitting waiting for the bus, and I saw a few go by, when The Hotel manager pulls up in his car and says "come on Mr.John, we're going to catch your bus, it's 30mins ahead". So I hop in and we're off... ...tired... .. long story short, I ended up getting on this other tours bus to do the same place. It was probably much better for me because it was a smaller group and a really good guide.

Day 9 - Tamarindo

Just got back from passing my Diving Exam! Only got 2 of 50 wrong, which apparently makes me the best student of the past few months (avg. 5 wrong). After studying most of yesterday and today the questions were pretty easy, but some of them were written to confuse.

Went out on the boat yesterday (no diving today because of the wind == waves) for my first ocean dive. It was awesome! It was like swimming inside my fishtank only much much better. I saw at least 4 kinds of HUGE (like football sized) Puffers, Lots of Moray Eels, some Triggers, lots of medium and small sized schooling fish, Sea Urchins, and Octopus, and I swear I saw some kind of Stonefish. I was only able to see the stonefish* (of some variety) because I noticed that this rock had evenly spaced fin-like ridges. I didn't approach it because if a fish is either very bright or very concealed, it has a reason to be, and we don't touch things we don't know!

Day 6 - Tamarindo

A little more burnt, I'm still in Tamarindo. I will be until Tuesday when I think I'm heading for Fortuna for a few days near Volcan Arenal, and a TV :)

It's scorchingly hot here during the day. I spent an hour in the sun reading and got pretty burnt, and since I was in a pool it's just from the chest up. Once my Scuba course is over I'll have to try to even out the tan a bit.

My legs are also a mess of mosquito bites from my first evenings dinner on the beach. Big mistake there, I hadn't heard any mosquitoes so I assumed they didn't exist. Anyway my legs are all itchy, but keeping them in water most of the day helps, and now I know better. [EDIT: They were noseums not mosquito's]
